Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Man and a Van London in respect of our financial year and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights, and we are committed to driving out any acts of modern slavery or human trafficking from within our business and from our supply chains.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Man and a Van London provides transport, removals, and related logistical services to customers across London and the surrounding areas. Our supply chains primarily include vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging providers, technology and software partners, and subcontracted transport and labour services.
We recognise that certain parts of the logistics and transport sector can be vulnerable to modern slavery risks, particularly in relation to agency workers, subcontracted drivers, and overseas product sourcing. We are committed to identifying, assessing, and managing these risks responsibly.
Zero-Tolerance Approach
We operate a zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. This means we do not accept, condone, or engage in any form of forced labour, servitude, bonded or compulsory labour, or any form of human trafficking within our business or supply chain. Any breach of this position by employees, contractors, or suppliers is considered a serious matter and may result in disciplinary action, contract termination, or reporting to the appropriate authorities where necessary.
Policies and Governance
Our commitment to preventing modern slavery is supported by internal policies that promote ethical conduct, fair treatment, and respect for human rights. These policies include standards on recruitment, working conditions, non-discrimination, and whistleblowing. Managers are expected to uphold these standards and to foster a culture where concerns can be raised without fear of retaliation.
We expect all who have, or seek to have, a business relationship with Man and a Van London to familiarise themselves with our standards and to act consistently with them.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We aim to work only with suppliers and contractors who share our values and meet our standards on labour and human rights. As part of our supplier due diligence, we seek to assess the risk of modern slavery in our supply chains and expect suppliers to confirm compliance with applicable labour and human rights laws.
Where we identify higher-risk suppliers or categories, we may conduct additional checks, request further information, or require evidence of policies and procedures to prevent modern slavery. We reserve the right to carry out supplier audits, which may include site visits, documentation reviews, and interviews with relevant personnel. Where non-compliance is identified, we will seek to work with the supplier on corrective action plans or, where necessary, terminate the relationship.
Training and Awareness
We are working to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and contract management. Training and guidance help employees recognise indicators of modern slavery, understand our policies, and know how to respond if they have concerns.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage employees, suppliers, contractors, and any other partners to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or human trafficking connected to our business or supply chains. Concerns can be raised with line managers or senior management, or through our internal reporting and whistleblowing channels.
Reports will be treated seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated where appropriate. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated after investigation.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We acknowledge that combating modern slavery is an ongoing process and that our approach must continue to evolve. We are committed to regularly reviewing and improving our policies, procedures, and due diligence activities. This statement will be reviewed at least annually to assess our progress, reflect any changes in our business or legal requirements, and identify opportunities for improvement.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the management of Man and a Van London and will be updated and published each year.
